| Loretto Chappel | A chappel built between 1873 and 1878. It is now a museum. Its interesting feature is a spiral staircase built without a visible means of support and without screws. An interesting place to visit for an hour. | |
| Pecos National Historic Site | National Park Service site of the Pecos Pueblo. You also go on a short stretch of the pre-1937 Route 66. | |
| Sandia Crest | Get an eagles view of Albuquerque from the top of Sandia Peak. | |
| Sandia Tram | The worlds longest tram (2.7 miles) taking you to the 10,378' Sandia Crest peak. | |
| Rio Grande Gorge | View the Rio Grande from the bridge 800 feet above the river. | |
| Los Alamos | Site of the Bradbury Science Museum. Site of Los Alamos National Laboratory, home of the Manahttan Project. | |
| Bandelier Monument | National Monument for early civilizations of the area. | |
| Casinos | There are a couple casinos in the area. Camel Rock Casino and Cities of Gold are located north of the hotel on highway 84/285. | |
| Camping | Cottonwood RV Park in Espanola which is about 25 miles north of Santa Fe. Tent site is an open area with a pit for a campfire for $15 per night. The campground is dirt, but enough room for a dozen tents. The facilities are very good and clean. The road between the hotel and campground is a good divided road with 2 lanes each direction. When I was on my recon trip I took pictures of the campground which are here. | |
